Somewhat interesting story of the Mafioso, but it is difficult to work up a lot of sympathy for or interest in the character. Like more than few people, I was inspired to read this after listening to Bob Dylan's song about Gallo on the Desire album. Perhaps I need Dylan to explain the fascination. Gallo certainly wasn't as deserving of Dylan's sympathy as Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, whom Dylan sang about on the same album.
