A car ride is never complete without the backseat passengers asking "Are we there yet?", and this story, about a brother and sister taking a trip to the toy store, is full of this question. In fact, almost the entire story is repeating this question on the remarkably long car ride.
The illustrations with their elongated proportions and flat colors, are cold and unfriendly and do not add any additional information to the story. The story itself is also rather disappointing, with no plot to speak of, other than two kids whose parents are going to let them buy a toy at the toy store. Of course, this is an easy reader book which is supposedly directed towards 2nd graders, however the overly simplistic text and length seems to be directed at a younger reading level.… (mehr)
