This is my first Lorin Grace novel and definitely won’t be my last! I loved the premise of a preacher who needs a wife to keep his position and decides to propose to one of the identical twins he grew up with. Unfortunately, instead of proposing to Clara, the twin he likes most and feels he’d be most compatible with, he mistakenly proposes to the wrong sister! Yep, Lewis still hasn’t figured out that Catherine likes to play jokes and switch places. But, instead of correcting his mistake, he feels duty bound to marry Catherine and she readily accepts his proposal.

Now a year later, Lewis has left Boston for Texas awaiting his fiancée and has finally realized he can’t marry Catherine. What’s he to do? But, Catherine is up to her old tricks once again and proposes yet another switch. Will Lewis and Clara ever get together?

Beyond Lewis’ romantic woes, there’s the problems in the small Texas town where he’s been called to preach. Rose’s Rescue is a place where women escaping prostitution or other untenable situations find education and a new start at life. Unfortunately, not all the townsfolk are happy about this. There’s mystery, danger, threats, and suspense along with the slow burn romance that kept me turning those pages.

I enjoyed Lewis & Clara! Their swoon worthy romance was filled with longing glances, sizzling attraction, and passion filled kisses. Yet, they both had important lessons to learn. Clara needed to learn to stand up for herself and fight for what she wanted. Lewis needed to find his inner strength to correct the situation he put himself and others in. Catherine is completely spoiled and had some difficult lessons to learn as well.

The book ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger. While there is a happily ever after ending, there are a few questions which remain unresolved. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book to see how everything turns out.

Highly recommend to western and historical romance fans! Though it’s the third book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I found I was able to jump right into the story, but now want to go back and read the previous books. I received an advanced complimentary copy, but also purchased a copy through KU. All opinions are my own and voluntarily given.

Content: some violence, burns, purposeful disfigurement, mentions of brothels (no details), unwed pregnancy, & premarital relations (no details).

I enjoyed this romance and I voluntarily chose to review this story. I've given it a 4.5* rating. This gives a good look at living in a foreign country, even for short periods. Lots to learn when you visit like this. We personally lived in Bangkok, Thailand for about 2 years. Hubby was in the military. This was almost 50 years ago, so I know it is a lot more modern now in certain areas. Just remember get your shots before you travel, and drink bottle water. It was interesting, both the story and our experience.… (mehr)

Anne was adopted from China when she was a year and a half, and has always wanted to see where she came from, and she finally gets a chance to go and teach English for the summer. In junior high Anne was teased by Tate, a nerd and fellow classmate, for not knowing her native language, and though to him it was innocent teasing of a major crush, for Anne it was incredibly hurtful and personal. They parted ways and grew up: Anne becoming a teacher and Tate going from nerd to insanely handsome and becoming rich and famous for creating a language app in college.

Tate had made a promise to his grandfather right before he passed away to apologize to Anne for what he did, and when their paths cross again Tate takes his chance, not only to apologize, but to win the heart of the girl he's never been able to get out of his heart.

I am a sucker for nerds and loved how Tate is portrayed. Despite being good looking and rich, Tate is humble and grounded, which is refreshing. He handles himself, and his business, with integrity and I love how he fights to make life better for others less fortunate than himself.

Anne was a tougher character for me to connect with, though my heart goes out to her for all the injustice she endured, especially the discrimination. Reading about some aspects of the Chinese culture was interesting, but all the surveillance the government does on individuals is shocking! I honestly don't know if I could handle having my life scrutinized under a microscope like that.

Heartwarming and swoon-worthy, Miss Oriented and the Billionaire is another great summer read that you will easily breeze through and immensely enjoy!

I am a sucker for a happy ending and in Mending Hearts with the Billionaire I got a super sweet happy ending but sadly that was the best part of the book for me. I've put off reading any books with the word "billionaire" in the title for a long time, but the premise of this book spoke to me, and so I gave it a try.

From the beginning I had my doubts about the plot, but Candace saved the whole book for me. I cannot even begin to imagine going through cancer while your mom is dying of cancer herself. Candace was only sixteen when she had to deal with losing her mother as well as making some life altering decisions, then feeling so ashamed that she couldn't even tell her best friends, so she holds onto this burden for years, never letting anyone close enough to show them the truth. Utterly heartbreaking. Candace is a real character and is herself a struggling college student trying to figure out her life.

Then there's Colin, the lovable, tech nerd that is a billionaire but doesn't use his money for anything but necessities, and in his inventions. Colin has been crushing on Candace for over a year and is so incredibly inexperienced with women that he hasn't even had his first kiss yet! That itself made his character feel far-fetched but sweet nonetheless. It's hard not to love Colin.

The most annoying part of the entire story was the AI program that Colin has hooked up in his penthouse. I understand the reasoning for including the AI in the story but hearing the Siri-like program every time Colin did anything in his apartment got old quick.

Despite the few negatives, there were redeeming qualities, like the camaraderie of the group of friends that Colin and Candace were apart of, and the attraction between Candace and Colin. The book also has a nice flow and the writing itself is decent. I really wanted to love this book but sadly Mending Hearts with the Billionaire fell flat for me, but maybe billionaire books really aren't my thing.
