Rezensionen

A crazy person murders a stranger's wife as a favor, and expects a murder in return.

Suspenseful. The ending is a bit disappointing; it turns into an action movie about 10 minutes from the end, which makes an exciting and memorable scene but it's not what the story needed.

Fascinating autobiography by one of America's great actors. Born in southern California, Farley Granger started acting early and had a hit movie when he was only 17 years old. WWII interrupted his career for a while but he was back working after the war. Granger is best known to movie lovers as one of Alfred Hitchcock's stars. He was in Rope, with Jimmy Stewart and in Strangers on a Train with Robert Walker.

However, his true love was is theater. He bounced back and forth from movies, theater, and tv but the bulk of his life was working live. Granger did stock theater, theater in Europe (his favorite country is Italy) and in New York City.

His encounters with Hollywood and New York actors and actresses are fun to read, there are glimpses at Judith Anderson, Bette Davis, Robert Walker, Shelley Winters and a whole host of others.

While I enjoyed the book, sometimes the narrative jumped around a little more than I would like. Still, it is an excellent glimpse into the world of movies, tv and theater.

An interesting life: lot's of movie, theater and tv cultural history here from WW2 up to the present. An easy and fun read. Relax and enjoy it for its unpretentiousness.
