Police Dogs (Dogs to the Rescue!) von Sara Green
Police Dogs is an informative book about dogs trained to work as police officers. Each page is filled with details about the skills of different breeds. This book would be a good resource for research on dog breeds or the variety of police dogs' skills. There is a glossary in the back and a list of additional reading resources. While the vocabulary is not too difficult, there are many technical terms so the reading level is probably fourth grade or higher.
A very early introduction to Apple, Inc.in very small chapters. From its very beginnings with Woz and Steve making the Apple I to the iPhone 6 and the major leaps in between, this is a great starting spot for an elementary/primary report on Apple or computers, or on Steve Jobs or Steve Wozniak. Nice glossary and further readings are included.
This book is geared for elementary school students who's families are taking them on a canoe trip. You learn the structure of the boat, how to use a canoe and how the canoe is used in trips. There is a nice promotion for canoeing in Minnesota, in case you are in the area.

A solid introduction to the world of tiger sharks, with engaging writing and plenty of photographs. The author does a nice job of describing the tiger shark's physical appearance, life cycle, and migratory routes, and thoughtfully discusses threats from humans. Overall, she stays away from sensationalistic writing, although the statement "Tiger sharks have attacked about 100 people. At least 30 of them were killed." is vague (attacked over what kind of time frame? 20 years? 100 years? How long have records been kept?). The vocabulary is rich, with words that are defined in the glossary clearly marked. Even children who consider themselves shark experts may discover a word or two they didn't know (oviviparous; ampullae of Lorenzini). Examples of maps, diagrams, charts, and captions are incorporated into the main text nicely.
