This book is weird, with some chapter heads and all recipe names partially in Hebrew or Yiddish. Actually, it goes beyond being odd: it makes it hard to identify what the recipes actually should be called, since the usual names aren’t being used. So, being cute in this way actually turns out to be a negative thing, IMO. Ironically, this use of totally irrelevant Hebrew or Yiddish terms probably helped the authors sell their book! Another negative thing, again IMO, is that the authors think highly of MSG. In general, the ingredients and recipes are much more archaic than one might have expected.… (mehr)
