Firstly: several of the "best hikes" I did were not even in this book: Woods Canyon, Sugarloaf, Chimney Rock, and Little Horse to the chapel.
Secondly: one of the hikes I wanted to do was Vultee Arch, which was in this book. However, the book failed to mention that if you want to get within 4 miles of the trailhead, you need an off-road vehicle to get down the road. Oh, and it otherwise shares a trailhead with Devil's Bridge, so you're effed, because ten million Instagramming vacationers have already taken up every parking spot within 5 miles. (Also: it spends nearly the entire section on Vultee Arch talking about Vultee, rather than the actual trail.)
I would definitely not recommend this book. Instead, the trail maps I got were a better indication of a good hike.… (mehr)
