Great book but the authors larger "Best Hikes Sedona" book covers more ground. This is good if you don't want to see the more strenuous hikes included.
If you have only a few days, even just a few hours, to spend hiking around the spectacular red rocks of Sedona, this slim volume is a good investment. You'll surely find a few hikes that fit your criteria for length, difficulty, accessibility, scenery.

Firstly: several of the "best hikes" I did were not even in this book: Woods Canyon, Sugarloaf, Chimney Rock, and Little Horse to the chapel.
Secondly: one of the hikes I wanted to do was Vultee Arch, which was in this book. However, the book failed to mention that if you want to get within 4 miles of the trailhead, you need an off-road vehicle to get down the road. Oh, and it otherwise shares a trailhead with Devil's Bridge, so you're effed, because ten million Instagramming vacationers have already taken up every parking spot within 5 miles. (Also: it spends nearly the entire section on Vultee Arch talking about Vultee, rather than the actual trail.)
I would definitely not recommend this book. Instead, the trail maps I got were a better indication of a good hike.… (mehr)
