Asiye Zeybek Guzel

This was a 'pleasure' to read. It opened my eyes to the courage and struggle faced by many women (and men) at the hands of governments in other countries.

The preface to the English version is different to the preface for the Turkish edition; it is interesting to read both and get more of a feel about people in the country discussed will approach this text.

It is a very easy read in terms of length. At 123 pages it could be read in one sitting. Her story is such a sad one and yet offers hope for other people who have been in/or who have family in, a similar situation.

I left this book with an awful feeling as it was not something I knew anything about. Her pain, loneliness and fear will haunt me for a long time to come.… (mehr)
