My Wish for You von Kathryn Hahn
Actress Kathryn Hahn makes her picture-book debut with My Wish for You, a title inspired by her experiences with her own six-year-old daughter, and presented as a sort of love letter from mother to child. Offering advice, from loving oneself to making sure to be heard, the text here is a road map for young girls...

Although I enjoyed the artwork contributed here by illustrator Brigette Barrager, who has worked on such titles as Uni the Unicorn and its sequel, overall I wasn't that impressed by My Wish for You. These sorts of "inspirational" picture-books, which offer affirmation and advice, tend to be hit or miss with me, and this one was a miss. There's nothing at all wrong with it, but it doesn't really stand out from the crowd. Readers looking for picture-books of this kind might want to consider a title like Samantha Berger and Mike Curato's What If...? instead. Recommended primarily to fans of the artist.… (mehr)
