Modern Irish Drama (Norton Critical Editions) von John P. Harrington
When I was studying English for undergrad, I had to purchase an excessive number of copies of literature textbooks and anthologies. This was one of them but I loved it a little more than the others because it had to do with Irish lit.
Breaking with tradition, this text argues that many of Beckett's texts are deeply involved in Irish issues and situations. It provides an understanding of Beckett's work in its representation of Ireland, of Irish history, and of Irish literary traditions.
