Casey and Ilda met, fell in love, spent a short time together and then one horrible day happened and they believed the other had died in a cataclysmic situation. Four years later they realize that this is not true when Casey heads back undercover trying to locate his younger brother kidnapped by a Columbia Cartel. Casey and Ilda are definitely soul mates with a combustible steamy relationship and difficulties most couples will, thankfully, never encounter.

Casey is the oldest Faraday sibling, a take charge protective caring sexy alpha male. He carries a lot on his shoulders but those shoulders are very broad, strong and able to carry the load. He has brothers and sisters who are involved in the family business of making arms sold to the US government and it sounds like each sibling has quite a lot to offer to the family company. Casey is an interesting character and one that I enjoyed getting to know.

Ilda is a talented beautiful musician with the voice of a songbird. She lost her sister, nearly died, had a baby on her own and did the best you could to survive and give her child the best possible future based on what she thought she knew. Being caught up in a Columbia cartel provided her security and safety for herself and her child but then things began to change.

Pipe – the leader of the cartel – was intelligent, ruthless and lived by a rigid set of rules. He was a classy but scary man that I would not want to cross.

There is intrigue, violence, steamy sex, decisions to be made, a kidnapping that I thought would be resolved differently and the set up for future books in the series was delightfully done. I left wanting to read the first two books to find out more about Beth & Vick and Chandler & Tobias. I also would like to get my hands on book four to find out what will happen with Gillian. And, that said…that undercover priest sounds like he might need a story in the future along with quite a few other characters I met in this book.

Quick thoughts/mini review:

Wild Burn was a fun and sexy romance, with a wonderful heartfelt romance between a gunslinger and an ex-nun. The chemistry between the two leads were wonderful, with a romance that at times was tender and sweet but also filled with great banter and humour which sparkled with tension.

The hero, Delaney was a great romantic protagonist, I liked his gruff and stoic demeanour and I totally melted towards him when he fell head over heels for his heroine, Moira - who was also a fantastic heroine. I loved that despite the fact he accidentally shoots her in the beginning of the book, she never got intimidated by him and saw through his hard cool shield and I liked how she managed to crack through it. Their banter between them was delightful and really added to the tension between them. But I think when their pasts were explored - it showed how well rounded and shaped their characters were, and I think the scene where they both confess their past just cemented the romance for me.

I think the main sub-plot that dealt with the Indian dog soldiers kind of fizzled out at the end and the ending was a bit anti-climatic. But the real heart of the story was the romance which just beyond fun and sexy! A terrific debut and I am will definitely pick up the next book by Edie Harris.… (mehr)
