This is a simple book to help children connect the numeral four with the corresponding amount. Each spread has the numeral, brief text, and an accompanying illustration. Although it's basic, I like how every two spreads go together, rather than everything being completely random. For instance, one spread is "4, four sprouting seeds" and the following one is "4, four yellow sunflowers." It was also nice to have at least descriptions that include adjectives rather than just nouns. In addition, the illustrations are beautiful photographs, which is a nice change. The book ends with an interactive question, which is a good idea in a book for the youngest readers. The only odd thing was that the photograph on the cover didn't match any of the spreads, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The toddlers in my class listened attentively to this book.… (mehr)
