Penny Hayes has captured the loneliness and desperation of the young immagrants in the 1900's in Chicago. Deplorable living conditions, hopeless outlook on life. Until love finds its way into their lives. And then the horrible Triangle Shirtwaiste Fire happens.
Another cute story from Penny Hayes. Female bandit Margarita Sanchez is terrorizing the New Mexico territory. Julia Blake is in the wrong place at the wrong time (or perhaps right time). Mediocure writing but entertaining enough.
A cute love story between Blanche and Teresa. Blanche is an overweight, engaged, unhappy, and just plain bored woman living in post-Civil War texas. Crossing paths with Teresa, a prostitute at the BlackJack saloon. Cute plot, mediocure writing.

Along with the limit of options available to any young woman from another country with no realatives, friends, job, etc. waiting for you in America after leaving your native land and traveling all those days in wrenched conditions and just hoping you live to see America!
Penny Hayes is one of my favorite Lesbian writers and love how she usually combines romance with historical history. I certainly enjoy her "history lessons" mixed with lesbian lives.
I recommend this book and all the other books by this author.… (mehr)
