A study of the Catholic Church and its handling of the war of independence. At first hierarchy supportive of established authority with some individuals actively supporting revolutionaries; many clerics founding SF cummain in their parashes and running them; sympathy among the population which provided shelter etc. All changed with the arrival of the Black and Tans. They unleasehed terron on general population; molested the clergy and in some cases shot them. Hierarchy changes view to seeing revolutionaries as engaged in a war of self defence.… (mehr)
