Where does one start with this book? I liked it better than Bent, can you believe that? Sometimes, many times, when a book in a series changes characters over the same time frame as the book before it, something gets lost along the way. This is not the case in this book. Not only did it tell a story that could almost be a stand alone book, but it has it’s own storyline instead of mirroring the previous book’s storyline. Sure, there are parts of the previous book in it, there has to be. This book stands on its own two covers. (Hehe I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for the corny play on words.)
At first, I wasn’t so sure if I was going to like Carly and Adam’s story. But, I indeed, really liked it. Carly’s fears can be felt deep down. You won’t have a problem begging for her to just wake up, suck it up, and be happy. As I read the book, I kept trying to see if I could remember certain parts from Bent to see if I could have foreshadowed the things that were going on at certain times. No such luck! There was a point in Bent, I had thought that Adam and Carly were seeing each other. The parts I thought that were confirmed in this book.
I loved the connection these two shared. There couldn’t have been a better way to tell their story. I actually found myself a little giddy over these two! Hands down a must read book!

We all know that HB is a talented writer; if not, you haven’t allowed yourself to find out. This book will tug at your heart in so many ways in so many parts. There is something about making hard decisions in a book so welcoming. I liked that this story isn’t sugar-coated. It is nice to have a dose of reality in a fictional story. You won’t like some of the decisions these characters make, but will be pleased in the end when the realization that decisions always have to be made whether they are easy or not. I found myself wanting to see Micah get the girl in the end, but at the same time, I understood why Julia made the decisions she made. The situation in this story is all kinds of messed up. All roads seem to be pointing to a no-good ending!
This story had me going back and forth in which ending I wanted to see. I couldn’t decide. My indecisiveness shone throughout this story. Everyone wants a happy ending, but at the same time, everyone likes to root for the main character, especially the one with what seems like the greatest heartache.
I could go on and on about this story, but then I would ruin it all for you. I can’t give the book enough praises. It is a story you should read, if you haven’t done so already!
