On the evening before her 65th birthday scientist Beatrice Fine is in her lab working on the wrinkle reducer formula her company is preparing to release to human trials when a former lab assistant, Skip the loser, breaks in with an accomplice, sets explosives and tries to kill her. After the accomplice sets the charges and makes tracks out of there, Skip fails to get the computer files on the research in time and in an attempt to murder Beatrice they both fall into the huge vat of ER-6900. Skip escapes before the blast, but Beatrice is still immersed when the place blows up. Somehow she survives and her current assistant, Zack Ashcroft, hides her so whoever is backing Skip’s theft and attempted murder believes she died in the explosion.

What they can’t begin to fathom is why the dip in the vat followed by the explosion is causing Beatrice to not only look 30 years younger, but changes her body contours from frumpy to va-va-voom. And why on Earth is she having hot flashes of the not-menopausal kind over Zack, a man who was 30 years younger than her. Key word: was. Will the changes stick? Will she go back to the way she was? Will corporate espionage win the day? Will Zack respect her in the morning? Only one way to find out…

Full of humorous moments and steamy scenes this romance is different than your typical contemporary. What would you do if you were suddenly 30 yrs younger, looking mighty fine and yet inside your head you’re still 65? Would you live in the moment or would you spend the time worrying about when it will wear off? How would you convince people that you are really you? And what do you do about the people trying to kill you? Attempt to bring them down, of course.

There were a few parts of the book where the pacing was a bit slow, but I would recommend this to anyone who likes a fun steamy romance with a bit of suspense thrown in.

Lilly Renfrew has just witnessed a murder. She doesn't care it if was "just" a prostitute...to her it is still another human being. A small gasp betrays her and the murderer realized he's been watched leading to a chance through the Barbary Coast area and directly into Deegan Galloway's arms.

Deegan has been bored...he wants adventure, and when the little wren, Lilly, stumbles into his arms trying to escape from a man chasing her, he is quick to oblige. Once he hears her story he decides to join in the hunt for the murderer.

While this is labeled a Romance, and it does have a few steamy scenes in it, it was more of an action/mystery in my opinion. The hunt for the murderer leads to all manner of unusual circumstances and list of highly unlikely suspects. The author does a wonderful job of keeping the true bad guy's identity a secret until almost the very end, which I admire a lot.

Lilly and Deegan are both wonderful characters that are struggling to realize who they really are underneath. Their journey together is fun to follow and I truly enjoyed watching them become who they really were.
