Now, this is more of what I expect from the "Classic" series, as the author gives you a case study of how a viable aircraft came to be undone by the Luftwaffe's mismanagement, and a certain failure to recognize that the best is enemy of good enough. Among other things, Hermann finds that there was no real evidence for failed adhesive processes being the cause of the plane's issues, though the high-wing structure and wooden construction did make forced landings a fraught exercise. The ultimate reality is that by the time the Ta 154 (it was never called the "Moskito") could have entered quantity service, it was too late to make a real difference.… (mehr)
