A brief introduction to thousands of years of history of the African continent; the younger audience and minimal text vastly limits the number of groups that can be covered. Still, most children will learn about African groups that are rarely touched on in school. Appealing pictures and format with a good glossary and index at the end make this a decent book, leaving the only major flaw trying to cover such a vast topic in a small book.
