A perfect blend of prose and pictures. I love how the author incorporates maps and dates into many pages to show the tern's journey. I especially love the two-page spread of a flock of terns navigating across the sea with the aurora borealis in brilliant greens and dusky purples. Includes More About Arctic Terns, Further Reading, and Selected Bibliography.

An adorable little dust bunny tries to make friends - with a beetle, some ants, the cat, a teddy bear, a printed elephant - until at last it's swept under the couch and joins a whole warren of other dust bunnies.

The toddler will be able to talk about what is going on in the pictures and create a story or their own. This book fosters narrative skills as the child tells the story. It could also be used to help with writing skills for older children as they write the story using their own words.… (mehr)

I feel like this would be a good book to use at the beginning and end of the school year. This would be a good book to teach on the theme of persistence. No matter how many times the buy got ignored he never gave up on his dream of making a friend. I would use this both in the beginning of the year to encourage my students to try no matter how hard something may seem at the time. I would use it at the end to show that just like the bunny they never gave up and also reached their goal of finishing the year. This book could be used to broach the topic of inclusion and point of view . The book can be used to discuss ways everyone can make each other feel happy and included. The cat ignoring the bunny can be used to discuss how both the cat and bunny felt at the time and different ways to make everyone feel welcome… (mehr)
