This is a stunning work of local history. Eighteen years of research produced a thick tome studded with delights, such as the essay on the 'Hermit Lucas' who could attract hundreds of visitors in one day. This book can hardly fail to captivate, amuse or educate anyone with an interest in English history. It will make you wish your town was as well served. The lovely original 1932 edition can still (in 2019) be found at reasonable cost.
