The Mythago Cycle Volume 1: Mythogo Wood & Lavondyss von Robert Holdstock
Zunächst liest sich der Text etwas spröde - die Geschichte braucht auch etwas Zeit, um in Gang zu kommen. Zeitlich sind die Ereignisse des ersten Teils - Mythago Wood - kurz nach dem Ende des zweiten Weltkriegs einzusortieren. Inhaltlich geht es um die Geschehnisse in einem „Mythenwald“, also einem unberührten Stück wildem Waldes im Süden von England, dessen innere Region nicht mehr mit der äußeren Zeit verknüpft ist und der von verkörperten Sagengestalten, den Mythagos, bevölkert wird.

Nach Klappentext „indescribably enchanting - one of the most magical and unforgettable fantasy landsapes ever imagined“

Und der Kern der Geschichten ist die Vorstellungskraft - dadurch würden die Mythagos erst zum Leben erweckt.

Im zweiten Teil, Lavondyss, steht die kleine Schwester von Harry Keeton (einem der Abenteurer des ersten Bandes), Tallis, im Mittelpunkt. Tallis entwickelt schon früh eine enge Beziehung zum „Mythenwald“ und wird von weisen Frauen, Mythagos, in die alten Mythen eingeweiht. Diese sollen ihr helfen, ihrem Bruder den Weg zurück zu zeigen.

Insgesamt nimmt im zweiten Teil die Geschichte deutlich an Fahrt auf - sie liest sich nicht mehr so spröde wie im ersten Teil.… (mehr)
