I may be an unfair reviewer giving it only three stars mainly because it discussed suffering and martyrdom in the New Testament covering, for the most part, areas and issues with which I am unfamiliar. However, in the essays that explored somewhat familar territory were enlightening and expanded my understanding of what suffering and martyrdom entails within its cultural setting and how it ought to be understood in contemporary times. However, I will admit that even in those areas that were difficult for me to gain an proper understanding, what I did understand (hopefully correctly) enlarged my notions of Christian suffering and martyrdom. It was well worth the struggle to understand.… (mehr)
