After many years of teaching, Guy Howard became a missionary worker in the Ozarks. He hitchhiked the entire trip there and settled in Hickory County, Missouri, where he taught rural school for a year. During the next years, he walked over most of southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas preaching and doing odd jobs to pay his way.
