Bea Howe (1898–1992)

A whimsical little book from 1927: engaged couple, Evelina and William, couldnt be more different: he's a totally unimaginative male with a tendency to jealousy and grumpiness; she's a spirited, free-spirited female.
When William- an entomologist- catches a FAIRY, when he's out chasing moths, it leads to more stresses between the pair..
Was I the only one to see parallels to having a child....as Evelina becomes emotionally engaged with the sprite- imagines its feelings, seeks to engage with it...while William feels disgruntled and sidelined?
The fairy bits are quite delightful, but I'm not sure it worked ..I didnt see many redeeming qualities in William, and thought Evelina should find someone else!… (mehr)
