Very intriguing book, not sure about the true elements though ... It was fun to read!
In 1878 and 1879, an eighteen-year old girl named Esther Cox became the center of poltergeist activity allegedly caused by a gang of six ghosts. Actor Walter Hubbell visited her and her family during the haunting, recorded some hard-to-believe phenomena, tried to turn the girl into a lecture-hall celebrity and failed when she found herself unable to tolerate heckling. An more objective account of the incident is found on Wikipedia in the article “Great Amherst Mystery.” I would have to believe in ghosts if I believed what Hubbell wrote. I don’t.… (mehr)
Quick, easy read. It was written in the 1880's and is quite old-fashioned. You can easily imagine it being made into a documentary type black and white film.
