Book 1 of this trilogy pulled me in with beautiful writing and storytelling in its opening pages. The remainder of Book 1 kept my interest with real emotion and plenty of action, leaving me eager for books 2 and 3.

Unfortuneately, Book 2 was just plain dull. I never felt a conbection to the characters nor did their circumstances make me feel for them in any way. There were precious few events occurring that even made the story interesting.

The first half of Book 3 was similarly as disinteresting as Book 2. The story became more interesting in the last 5 chapters of Book 3. The reader was provided with the type of intensity and action that was expected throughout the series. By this time though, it was too little too late.… (mehr)

This first two pages pulled me in because of how well I thought they were written. I don't think the rest of writing quite lived up to the intro but this is still an enjoyable read. I felt as if I were being told a story rather than reading the events of a story and I appreciated that.

The story is told entirely from the vantage point of one character and he is recounting the events after the fact. Other characters are not fleshed out in any way as a result. This is a tale of one man's experiences and feelings. It is also not a standalone novel. This really could have been the first half of a larger novel.

I found it overall quite enjoyable. It held my interest throughout. The scattered grammatical errors were disappointing but the work is still very good.… (mehr)
