W. Ben Hunt (1888–1970)

As a kid I thought this was the greatest thing, although not sure I undertook a single one of the projects! They can be fairly involved--for example, the Cree trail toboggan (very much so-called) has the kid start a fire and put a vast cauldron on to boil--a cauldron I have never seen in my life, bigger than a man. Hmmm. As I recall (I don't have the book, and it's taken me years to find the title), there are ankle-high and calf-high moccasin designs. An English punt, an "Eskimo" (an offensive term where I come from) komatik or sled, a catamaran, snowshoes, birdhouses--some fun stuff.… (mehr)
