Ella’s parents are killed in a tragic hit and run accident as that is not enough she is now getting visions and hearing voices is she losing her mind? Perhaps not when she moves in with her parents friends and meets Kale who has been in her visions. He is there to protect her from going to the dark side and has been watching her for a while.

This book started off being so sad, I didn’t know if I would get much further as it was depressing. I am glad I stuck with it as it made for a great read. I loved the characters Ella was likeable as was Kale. The character development was great.

The story flowed at an even pace and it was well written

Immortal Heart is a prequel to Few Are Angels about Kale that takes place before he met Ella. I was excited to read this to learn more about Kale how his life was 100 years pre Ella, meeting his friend Deacon and learning about Sola and if she was ‘the one’ for Kale.

I enjoyed reading this but without Ella it was kind of strange.

I guess it may have been better if I had read this before Few Are Angels and it puts a lot of things in place with Kale.

It was a little slow to begin with but did pick up pace and again well written but I would recommend that if people want to read the series they might like to start with this one.… (mehr)

I waffled between 4 and 5 stars and ended up going with 4.5. I'll explain below what pushed it up that half star.

I took a chance when Audible had a sale recently and got some books I normally would have looked over in an effort to go out of my comfort zone a little bit! Normally this is not a book I would have gone for, as I tend to shy away from modern romances in favor of more fantastical or historical ones and I wasn't sure about the subject matter.

This book was, frankly, refreshing. I was surprised at how much I liked it. The writing was very good, I thought the story blended very well, the sexy times were very nicely written, and even the character development was good. Everyone was human and made mistakes, but also learned and took responsibility for those things. I learned a lot about racism, being in jail, and other topics that I am not very familiar with.

What pushed this up another half star was that this couple, though I lost some respect for them due to their endless waffling about whether they could make it work or not (I realize that that kind of waffling would be likely realistic in this situation, but it got tiresome after a while), was actually SENSIBLE!! I cringed when they had wild and unprotected sex after a heated argument that affected their whole relationship and when the passion faded they both realized what could happen--and was thrilled when the woman was on birth control and both characters knew they wanted children but also knew it was not the right time and wanted to wait!! What's this?? I did not have to apply my "predicable-pregnancies" tag?? A couple actually being thoughtful and sensible about pregnancy? That deserves a half star upgrade for realz.

Ella is living a tragic life. She is plagued by nightmares that seem so very real. Her family is dead and she is coping the best way she can. She must get her life back on track or she'll only end up back in the loony bin again. So up late one night, trying to stave off the nightmares, Ella comes across the stuff of her nightmares...two men fighting in her yard, and one of them just happens to be the same man in her dreams. Kale knows he's been found out and he doesn't like it. He didn't want her to find out like this, he had only wanted to stay in the shadows and protect her. But Jace now made that impossible. She made that impossible. Ella's life was about to change and things would never be the same. The twist on this paranormal story was new and yet familiar. I was drawn in and am anxious to follow the stories of all the characters in this series.… (mehr)
