I am only giving the book 2 stars because the second half, on offices, was largely obsolete (the book was published in 1994). Much of the text in that half was spent on obsolete technologies such as dealing with the ergonomic difficulties of CRT monitors, green text on black screens, dot matrix printers, and other things that are not particularly relevant.

However, the parts that were relevant were pretty good. The authors have a fairly prescriptive style, but they do give lots of good advice. Particularly useful were sections discussing good lighting, how to choose good furniture (such as chairs and mattresses), and how to make your home ergonomically friendly for children. The authors are big fans of task lighting, lever handles on door knobs and faucets, and configurable furniture (especially for children since they grow quickly). Overall, this was a good book that I will be consulting again for various ergonomic decisions.… (mehr)

Since the publication of The Art of Sensual Massage, Gordon Inkeles has worked to develop the massage techniques he popularized in his best-selling book, The New Massage, representing the result of ten more years experience and study, offers the most comprehensive full-body massage available today.

In addition to a special section on massage as drugless therapy, which demonstrates how massage can be used to treat such ailments as back pain, nervous tension, and headaches, The New Massage breaks new ground by addressing the question: Must exercise be followed by soreness and fatigue?

The revollutionary techniques in The New Massage are the missing ingredient in modern exercise programs. Whether you jog, play tennis, dance or climb mountains, you will find techniques geared to your special needs-techniques designed to:

Increase endurance
Dramatically lower fatigue levels
Relax and soothe aching muscles without drugs
Effectively deal with common athletic injuries
Leave you feeling totally rejuvenated

Like the perennial best seller The Art of Sensual Massage, The New Massage offers you luxurious peace whether you exercise or not. Throughout the book, the focus is on health, relaxation, sensuality and pleasure. The New Massage is destined to become a classic, a pioneering work in the increasingly popular science and art of massage.
