Magic was all sucked up into a sphere hundreds of years ago and sealed away because it had become tainted and was destroying the land. The seal has been breached by the sphere itself [it has become semi-selfaware] and it is up to a small group of various races to find it and destroy it.

This must have been Inlo's first book or something. It was almost painful to read. I think he had a thesaurus by his side when he wrote because his descriptions are always with words that are too much". It was very shallow, very amateur. Not a good impression for a first book. Hopefully he improves with the next books in the trilogy."… (mehr)

A reviewer online compared this book to the LOTR trilogy, with the fellowship convening in a city to go on a quest to destroy this magical icon, involving elves and wizards and.... okay, I guess they had a point. However, this is the kind of book I cut my teeth on as a kid, and I absolutely loved reading it! It was probably 10x longer than most kindle books, and well written, keeping me engaged throughout the entire story. (October 2012)

I read the ebook version of this book and loved it! Jeff Inlo does it again! Set in the future...it's a story of space scouts, space pirates, aliens, science, unexplored planets and galaxies, mining for precious gems, the "governments" of the future and just how much trouble the main character Rath Scampion can get into...and believe me, he gets into trouble! You don't know whether to hate the guy or root for him. Sometimes his scruples are less than desirable, but having to live the way he does, you almost feel sorry for him. The story moves along at a good pace and keeps you interested. It's not so full of spacey technical details that you feel lost, but has just enough to make you able to envision the spaceships they use, the planets they go to, etc. All in all, an excellent read...one that people of all ages will like.… (mehr)

I received this ebook free on http://www.manybooks.net. Set sometime in the future, the plot revolves around a "government" group trying to prove there is alien life somewhere else in the universe. When they can't find the proof they want, they decide to create their own "alien" race and place it on an empty planet to thrive.

I loved the concept for this book. There are "pirates" who take over a planet, "government" cover-ups, and an explorer who gets caught between all this.

The story has great potential and the writing is very good. However, I thought it dragged in spots, while other areas should have been expanded on a bit more.
