Good look at how the well-to-do folks lived in the early 1900s. And some of the harsh thoughts and feelings the rich had towards those who didn't grow up in their circle. I felt the heat of Florida and the cool breezes of the Summer months in the mountains.

Katherine Osborne is a young widow who ran off with a man most warned her about. She discovers they were right and now must deal with being a widow and owner of a Florida citrus grove and trying to make a profit running it. Her father will come and take her back to their summer lodge and help her with her citrus grove, but there are conditions she must meet. It will be a fight to the finish to live up to her parents expectations, while trying to have a mind and will of her own.

Andrew Townsend has known Katherine since childhood and loved her from afar, but has always known her parents would never allow anything but friendship. Can he continue to work for her father and be a friend only to Katherine over the summer, or will they finally have the courage to be honest with each other and trust the Lord with their future?

What an annoying and arrogant hero! He spends his time moaning about how the heroine doesn't love him because he's not rich enough even though she repeatedly shows through words and actions that she doesn't care for wealth. Then he moans that she is trying to move on with her life without him though he won't even give her a hint that he is interested in seriously courting her. The novel takes place more than 100 years ago so of course, being a proper lady she won't go after him. Ugh, I hate wasting my time on books where I have no respect for the main characters. Bleck...… (mehr)

This is a review for Meeting in the Middle. I'm looking forward to reading the rest in this collection--a fantastic group of authors here.

A sweet farm romance where past wounds threaten budding attraction between a farmer’s orphan daughter and a neighboring farmer with two orphan daughters of his own.

The hero was rugged, amusingly stubborn, but at the same time tender and heartwarming. The heroine is one of my favorites Ms. Hillman has written so far. Country as a corn pone, but vulnerable and feminine.

The plot was easygoing and developed organically from the setting. As for secondary characters, the two little girls were positively adorable. I smiled so big at them. And the romance leaves you with a sense of homeyness and good cheer.
