- In his short life, he authored two works both in the vernacular Marathi rather than Sanskrit. The first was Dnyaneshwari (or Jnaneshwari or Jnaeshwar's Gita), a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita completed in 1290; and Amrutanubhav (The Nectar of Self-Awareness) authored just before his death in 1296.

The 13th century poet-saint Jnaneshwar' composed his brilliant commentary on the Bhagavad Gita when he was 16 years old. In her blessing at the beginning of the book Gurumayi writes, "Jnaneshwari overflows with nectar. Reading it over and over again we continuously taste its elixir. May everyone who reads Jnaneshwari perceive the Truth in its fullness."
