Conviction is narrated by Neve Harper, a defence barrister who is acting on behalf of Wade Darling, a man accused of killing his family and then burning their house down. Neve is an excellent barrister, with what I'd describe as the killer instinct to win. However, this is not a straightforward case for Neve as she has something to hide and somebody knows about it and blackmails her. They tell her she must ensure Wade is found guilty and to do so she must sabotage her own case.

Neve is a complex character and although we know what she has to hide it's quite a while until we find out why and so it's difficult to sympathise with her at times. She's an excellent creation though, one whose instincts to win and moral code are pitted against her need to survive and this is a story that took me down many paths that I didn't expect to go down, with some shocking deeds taking place.

The first half or so of the book is a slower burn as Neve navigates the threats against her and takes instructions from Wade. Then the second half picks up the pace with the court case and things eventually coming to a head. I found myself thoroughly gripped by this point.

I love a courtroom drama and this one has some really exciting aspects to it. I also love reading about a moral dilemma (this book has this in spades) and contemplating the possible outcomes. Conviction is tense and tightly plotted with the unexpected hitting me at every twist and turn in the action and I was impressed with how the dilemmas were dealt with when I just couldn't see how a conclusion could be reached. This is a very readable and intelligent legal thriller.

After naming Anything For Her as one of my top reads of 2015, I could hardly contain my excitement when Jack Jordan asked me if I would like to read his new book. The answer was of course 'yes please' as I checked my email every hour to see when My Girl would drop through my virtual mailbox. I am releasing my review as part of the blog tour so please do follow all the stops on the posters at the end of my review.

Paige feels like her life is falling apart. Her daughter, Chloe, went missing and Paige never found out what happened to her. This all became too much for Paige's husband, Ryan, as he chose to end his life leaving Paige struggling to cope without her family. As Paige feels her life spiralling out of control she turns to drink and drugs to numb the pain, even resorting to desperate measures to obtain them. She sobers up pretty sharpish when she finds a gun in Ryan's office and strange things start to happen in the house, leaving Paige questioning her sanity and fearing for her own safety. Luckily she has family she can turn to...

I think one word that a lot of people will use to describe My Girl is 'unputdownable'; I read it in one sitting over a couple of hours and don't think I even stopped for a beer - that's praise indeed coming from me! As part one drew to a close you could have knocked me down with a feather - I so didn't see that coming! My jaw hit the floor and my eyebrows shot up to the sky - not a pretty look but one that many thriller readers will recognise and the mark of a very good book!

There will inevitably be parallels drawn between My Girl and a well known book that shall not be named as it will give one of the twists away. My Girl has the benefit of the element of surprise as up until part two I would never have thought the book was going in that particular direction. Now you will have to read My Girl to find out what on earth I am talking about.

My Girl is certainly a strong contender for my top reads of 2016, in fact I'd say it is one to beat. Jack Jordan is really getting a name for himself as a very talented psychological thriller writer. With twists and shocks galore, My Girl will keep you riveted from start to finish and I urge you to read it for yourself - you won't regret it (although you may have a late night of reading).

I received this e-book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Jack Jordan is one of my favourite authors so it was like having a trip to 'excitement city' when he released a novella as I waited patiently for his next novel. The writing as usual is superb but this book is SO good that the pages flick by so quickly and, being a novella, the whole experience is over far too quickly. Yes, I'm a greedy reader and I want more Jack Jordan books! I can almost hear Jack's fingers whooshing over the keyboard...as my wishes do sometimes come true!

So...A Woman Scorned...wow! What a book, it is absolutely gripping and full of surprises. I certainly wouldn't want to cross this scorned woman! I positively whizzed through the book and although I wanted to savour every single word, I just couldn't read it fast enough. Jack Jordan has that knack of giving you just enough Hansel and Gretel crumbs to follow whilst also releasing the handbrake on the runaway train so you can't read it fast enough before the breathtaking conclusion.

Amber is one of those women that I would love to have as a friend but at the same time I would be frightened of saying the wrong thing to her. At the flick of a switch she can go from being the perfect wife to a cold calculating woman bent on revenge. I loved that about her though, how she gave the illusion that everything was fine when behind the scenes she was like 'I'll get you, you cheating b*stard'.

Having read as many books as I have, I did guess a little of the big reveal but I still enjoyed every single second of it. Nobody can write with as much drama and unbridled tension as Jack Jordan and if you haven't discovered him yet, I urge you to pick up, not one but, all of his books right now!

A Woman Scorned is an absolute belter; thrilling, gripping and completely riveting, you won't be able to put it down!

I chose to read an ARC and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Jack is back in the most eagerly anticipated book of the year! There's nothing unusual about booklovers getting excited about books, but a new Jack Jordan book seems to whip us up into a frenzy as we all clamour to get our names on this exclusive list of early readers. I've been a huge fan of Jack Jordan since reading his outstanding debut, Anything for Her, and it's wonderful to follow the journey of this super-talented young author as he heads towards his destiny at the top of the bestseller chart.

I don't know where Jack Jordan gets his ideas from but they're all such good ones and Before Her Eyes is an absolute cracker! It sounds simple with a blind woman being pursued by a killer she can't see but the descriptions of smell, sounds and touch were so visual that I felt as if my own senses had been heightened to cope with Naomi's blindness. Jack Jordan is always so attuned to his characters that he can replicate their thoughts and feelings in the reader, without us even realising it. Whilst reading Before Her Eyes I found myself noticing smells and sounds more than usual as I tried to empathise with the darkness in which Naomi lived.

Although Naomi is understandably a very flawed character, she is a lot tougher than she thinks. Naomi will always have strong feelings towards her ex-husband, Dane, as he saw her at her worst and naturally, Naomi feels safe with him. As a blind woman, there's one thing that her other senses can't compensate for and that is the looks of admiration that Naomi receives from lovely DS Marcus Campbell. Now this really is love at first sight but unfortunately Naomi can't see it and my heart broke for Marcus as had to be content with admiring Naomi from afar.

The story of the killer terrorising Naomi's town reminded me of spiderweb cracks on a mirror; as you follow one line of enquiry and end up at a dead end, you have to return to the centre to see where the story leads you. At the centre of this web is a cold case: that of young Hayley Miller whose body has never been found. Marcus is convinced that this recent spate of killings is linked to the Hayley Miller case but his boss doesn't share the same thoughts. Marcus does a bit of digging on his own and finds that the latest victims were investigating the Hayley Miller case so he seems to be on the right track but, with a killer determined to stop the truth getting out about Hayley Miller, nobody in this town is safe.

I can guarantee that you will be glued to every single page of Before Her Eyes. I read it so fast that I feel like I need to read it again at a much slower pace to fully appreciate the glorious, visual scenes painted by Jack Jordan's powerful words. An absolutely sublime piece of fiction that entertained, amazed and down-right thrilled every inch of me. A* - you're top of the class again, Mr Jordan!

I chose to read an ARC and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
