Really interesting read, especially given that the guys he's writing about (NHL draft prospects from 2006 and 2007, and a few for 2008 & 2009) are now coming into the primes of their careers . . . or have never had NHL careers at all.
This is a very good but not great mystery novel about an ex NHL hockey player and now scout who hears that one of his ex teammates has committed suicide. He and his friend and associate "The Chief" (a first nations Canadian) decide to pay their respects. While there they are approached by the players wife who says that she believes it wasn't suicide and that something darker was going on instead. Therein lies the rub and the story is about the unraveling of what really happened. The book is fast paced and well written but there is nothing particularly unique or earth shattering about the plot or the ultimate solution to the mystery.… (mehr)

Good mystery novel. I am not a huge sports fan, but I do enjoy the occasional hockey game and I love mysteries. This book taught me some things about hockey and the mystery portion was well done. I would likely read other mystery novels by this author.
