Siddiqa Juma

Simple, short, nicely illustrated story of the creation of the world and Adam and Hawwa (which I assume is Arabic for Eve in English and Hava in Hebrew). The items mentioned in creation are the moon, sun, stars and rainbow, followed by Adam, "the best of all His creations," and Hawwa, "Adam's wife." This first couple are in heaven, where "everything was made for them to enjoy except the fruits of one tree," but they "did not listen to Allah and ate the fruit that was not for them." And so, "Allah sent them to earth to live." Adam became Allah's first prophet and Allah "promised to guide him. They had many children and grandchildren." The story ends by telling us that "we must try to help each other and live together --- just like a family."
I don't know how close this is to the story in the Qu'ran. I like the idea that we are all one family, descended from one couple. People are shown in two illustrations.… (mehr)
