Hélèna Katz

This is a compilation of the stories of twelve Canadian wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. The cases include David Milgaard, Guy Paul Morin and Ronald Dalton. Ms. Katz presents them in a factual, yet readable way, which leaves the reader wondering how this can happen in our society. No legal system is without its flaws but sometimes the errors are so glaring it is frightening.

Ms. Katz includes a synopsis of the lives of the wrongly convicted after being released from prison including any compensation they received. Some of the sums seem astronomical and some paltry, but in the grand scheme of things monetary compensation for lives lost always seems minimal.
