- Dodie Kazanjian joined Vogue for a brief stint as an editorial assistant after college.
In 1977 she became a feature writer for the Washington Post, then moved to a similar position with the Washington Star the following year. In 1981, she went to work for First Lady Nancy Reagan as deputy press secretary, a position she held until 1983, when she became an editor of House & Garden magazine and communications director for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), as well as editor-in-chief of the NEA's magazine ArtsReview. She has been a contributor to Vogue and The New Yorker magazines. She's written several books, including one with her husband Calvin Tomkins, an art critic for The New Yorker.
