S. F. A. Kettle

I got this book when I was preparing to teach an advanced undergraduate course in inorganic chemistry, but I didn't find time to start reading it until last spring. I read it while supervising labs and proctoring exams, so it took nearly a year to finish. It is the most readable group theory I've encountered, and I'm planning to recommend it to my students next time I teach symmetry and point groups. The book covers symmetry operations, point groups, and there is one chapter of crystallographic symmetry too. The appendices are valuable resources for matrix algebra and other topics.… (mehr)
