Have you ever wondered how your sensei seems to capture and redirect his opponent's enery so effectively and effortlessly?

In this new book from American Ju-Jitsu Association (AJA) co-founder George Kirby, you will learn why and how your sensei seems to have access to strength and energy that goes beyond his verbal explanations.

Transcending the mere memorization of kata, forms and techniques, Kirby takes you into advanced concepts that will actually simplify your training, help you learn new techniques faster and grant you deeper access to the inner workings of jujitsu. These concepts can be applied to the entire spectrum of martial arts, as they address the fundamentals of techniques, physics, anatomy, relaxation, humilty, self-confidence and open-mindedness.

Through extensive discussion and detailed photographs and diagrams, Kirby describes:

How kata function to synergistically connect the mind and body.
How meditation contributes to optimum physical perfomrance.
How all martial arts are connected.
How physics and anatomy affect body movement.
How the stress of daily life affects your ki.
How true sensei are participants and leaders in their dojo as well as in the community at large.
How to use balance against opponents to gain tactical advantage.
How to go beyond technical knowledge and move into the realm of truly understanding your art.
How the idea of 'less is more' can lead to success in all areas of your life!

More than a mere technical manual, Advanced Jujitsu: The Science Behind the Gentle Art is an insightful guide to the fundamental concepts that can transform the martial arts practitioner into a martial artist-or even a sensei.

'In this book George continues his tradition of presenting martial arts theories in a clear manner so that other martial artists can learn. Like his other books, many of the ideas presented can be applied to martial arts other than jujitsu.

This book concentrates on meditation and the physics of body movement in the martial arts. Professor Kirby also shows how these two topics can be brought together to help all martial artists grow in their own arts.'-Professors Wally Jay Jujitsu Instructor of the Year, 1969. Black Belt Hall of Fame
