A minimalist rhyming chant drives this book of animal portraits. The text is barely more than the animal names and sounds they make. It's the beautiful illustrations, richly colorful against a white background and spilling beyond the edges of the page, that really draw you in. The animals are painted as natural figures with jubilant facial expressions. Species intermingle happily before pulling an acrobatic stunt that requires you to shift the page orientation 90 degrees (and could be played up for drama in front of the story time crowd).… (mehr)
