This Encyclopedia book is a 𝐀-𝐙 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭 & 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬.
In the introduction, it seems a bit contradictory of the author to say about psychic attack, psychic detectives that help the police solve murders, crimes when they are a sceptical non-believer of various types of people with psychic abilities.
Why include psychic attack, psychic detectives in your book if your sceptical about it or don't know much about it?
Demons, Devils, evil spirits, or a witch projecting their negative energy/intention towards you can cause psychic attack, it can happen while you are asleep, meditating, or when you meet someone and they attach themselves your aura/energy for the purpose of draining your lifeforce, energy/aura for their benefit.
Psychic Vampires do this, some are ethical, some are predatory and not ethical.
There is also a difference between a demon & devil, a shade (a human spirit from Jewish mythology) a Jumbie (a spirit that's Caribbean in it's origin) a Djinn (middle-eastern countries believe in Djinn, Jinn they are the equivalent to a demon in the western world, but they aren't exactly the same as a demonic entity)
A Hobgoblin is not the same as a imp or demon either.
Most people that are possessed by a demon(s) are usually possessed by a powerful, high ranking demon or devil or multiple demons & devils.
It's frustrating as a reader of books about the paranormal, the occult, witchcraft, mythology, folklore, demonology when a author just lumps somewhat similar types of spirits, entities, beings together like they are all the same, when they aren't the same, but there are similarities between them so it's understandable.
The woman conducting seances to communicate with the dead was a trance-medium, so a spirit temporarily possessed her and spoke through her during seances with the dead.
Psychometry is a psychic abilities that psychics, clairvoyant mediums use to obtain information from the previous owner of a object, which can be a piece of jewellery, a painting, a watch, it's usually a favourite item of the owner of the object.
This psychic ability can be used to find a missing person, or a murdered victim of a serial killer.
If a witch has the intention to hurt, kill someone with witchcraft, they usually use a effigy of them, it can be a wax figure, a doll, a voodoo doll, or a poppet/hex bag that is used.
Items that belong to the intended target are used, such as there hair, blood, fingernail clippings, a photograph of the intended target.
Whatever damage or harm that is inflicted on the effigy will physically affect the intended target of the hex or curse since the effigy symbolically represents the person.

I don't agree, with the author's biased, willfully ignorant, narrow-minded, sceptical, judgemental, opinion, perception or assumptions about what real Satanism is or what blood magick is or the purpose for the use of blood magick.
A Devil-worshipper that only gets involved in Satanism because they think it's cool and edgy to piss off their parents & torture, sacrifice animals or commit murder is completely different to a genuine Satanist.
Satanists are atheists, they don't believe that Satan or Lucifer is a real celestial being, or interdimensional, demonic entity, they also don't condone, rape, torture, human or animal sacrifice either, I wish people would understand & respect the difference and understand this.
Anyone claiming to be a "𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭" that kidnaps, tortures, rapes, murders, sacrifices babies, children, pregnant women, teenagers, virgins, animals & sacrifices them to Satan to appease him is not a real/genuine Satanist, they are a devil-worshipper and they are
weak-minded, pathetic losers in my opinion.
Even if blood magick is practiced by Satanists, only a very small amount of blood is given to a demon, or Satan & Lucifer specifically as a offering, to show their devotion, loyal to the Dark Lord.
People are ignorant of the true meaning of Satanism, you are embracing your shadow self, your spiritually primal self, integrating all parts of yourself for enlightenment, to spiritually evolve, to be reborn.
Demons are misunderstood, vilified, demonized and so are various Deities.
Satanism is spiritual freedom, so are polytheistic belief systems.
Anton LaVey is not responsible or to blame for people being susceptible to a outside influence, easily manipulated, coerced, or a willing participant in devil-worship, he's not responsible for the "𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭" or a "𝐏𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐝𝐨-𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭" wannabes & murderers/serial killers that did/do exist in the world.
Who carries a copy of Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible and a real human finger bone even if they are a cannibal?
That's really creepy and weird 😲
They aren't a Satanist, they are a 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥-𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫, because real, genuine Satanists don't condone murder, or the ritualistic torture, rape, murder or sacrifice/cannibalization of animals, babies, children, virginal teenagers or pregnant women or adult men.
It is a stereotypical, assumed opinion, or perception of Satanists, due to the way they are portrayed in films, books, tv series, board games, due to the mass hysteria of the "𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜-𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜"
They will never condone that ever people need to learn to understand that.
When a person is possessed, they are the host for the invading devil or demon which are separate types of demonic entities.
Djinn/Jinn are male or female, they are not a genie like they are always described as, they don't grant your wishes, but they can be either helpful, or very violent, destructive and harm you in various ways.
They are the equivalent to a demon in the western world.
I don't understand why the family members believed that only the Djinn was being harmed, and not their family member, their body & soul is a host for the Djinn, but if you cause harm to their body, it will hurt them, or cause them pain.
Real demonic possession is gradual, it becomes progressively worse overtime.
There are stages that lead up to full demonic possession, manifestation, oppression, influence then possession.
A lot of murderers mentioned in this book are interested or obsessed with the occult, witchcraft, Satanism, but just owning copy of the Satanic Bible doesn't make anyone a real, genuine Satanist.
The author (in my opinion) is ignorant of what a real, genuine Satanist is, what they believe in, what they stand for, they don't condone delusional, idiots, psychotic sadists that think they are a Satanist, raping, torturing, murdering, sacrificing, cannibalizing animals, people, babies, and eating their flesh, or drinking their blood.
No genuine Satanist does this, only a delusional, mentally, emotionally, psychologically damaged/unstable "𝐏𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐝𝐨-𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭" wannabe/𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥-𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 does this.
Satanists are rational, science oriented, atheists, they are intelligent, political, they believe in and stand up for the rights of anyone that is gay, transgender, bisexual, a lesbian, they stand up for women's rights.
There is a political & spiritual aspect of modern day Satanism, it doesn't ever involve hurting any animal, or human being against their will ever!
Satanists don't condone anyone that is a rapist, peadophile, murderer, serial killer, a wannabe pseudo-Satanist/Devil-Worshipper, animal abuser.
It says in the Satanic Bible that they don't condone animal abuse!
The more I read this book, the more the author seems ignorant about different types of magick (witchcraft) spiritual practices, different types of spirits, beings, entities that exist, Deities as well.
At least do some research before writing a book about occult, witchcraft/supernatural murders so you don't seem ignorant about what you wrote a book about.
From the way the author writes, I get the vibe that they are a narrow-minded, sceptical,
non-believer of anything spiritual, supernatural, or related to the occult, witchcraft, spirituality, Deities etc..

I don't always agree with the authors assumptions about different types of magick (witchcraft) spiritual practices,& what genuine Satanists are or do/what Satanism is.
People always inaccurately, assume what they think a Satanist is or what Satanism is about, but most of the time they are wrong, inaccurate, incorrect, it is offensive, disgusting, Satanists are not the vile, vulgar, sadistic, psychotic creeps you think they are, Devil-worshippers are though.
There is a vast difference between them.
Learn the difference and stop vilifying, demonizing genuine Satanists because if you got to now them you would understand that most of them are good people.
Satanism is a philosophy, a political, rebellious nonconformist movement, organization, spiritual belief/practice, a lot of what Satanists do is symbolic, metaphorical but it has a lot of meaning and intention invested into it.
Satanism being trivialised into something disgusting, vile, immoral, predatory, sexually deviant, sadistic, cruel for sake of sadism & assuming that all Satanists kidnap, torture, rape, murder, sacrifice, cannibalize & drink the blood of animals and human beings is so out of touch with reality, tone death, inaccurate, stupid, willfully ignorant on purpose because a lot of people are
narrow-minded, sceptical, disrespectful, non-believers or a edgy, attention seeking,
pseudo-Satanist wannabe that isn't even a real, genuine Satanist!
Satanism is & always will be about forming your own opinion, thinking for yourself, being a nonconformist, questioning everything, being a good person, embracing your primal, animalistic, hedonistic, unashamed shadow self, your higher self, it is about religious, spiritual and sexual freedom.
It's absolutely disgusting, vile, vulgar, fear-mongering, "𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜-𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜" bullshit to force your Christian agenda onto others & attempt to force them to convert to Christianity via religious trauma.

The "𝐒𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐦"serial killer is a weak-minded, attention-seeking, pathological liar & paranoid schizophrenic even though his neighbour is named Sam Carr, the name Sam could be a reference to the demon Samael.
He also mentions 𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐳𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐛 (𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬) & 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡 as well.
Both are demons.
I think it is possible that there was/is a cult due to the witness testimonies of who they saw at the time of the murders.
They described people that look vastly different to each other, so how could they all be David Berkowitz? That doesn't make sense.
The Son of Sam serial killer would be considered a "𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐥" or a "𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐠𝐮𝐲" they only pretend to be nice with their fake persona, until they don't get what they want from women, they are rejected, "friendzoned" & the woman is subjected to verbal abuse just for rejecting them due to not being interested, creeped out or threatened by their weird, obsessive behaviour, attitude, mentality, perception of women, dating & sex in general.
In my opinion Albert DeSalvo is not the Boston Strangler, he just said what someone told him to say verbatim he wanted the attention, notoriety for claiming that he was the Boston strangler.
One particular frustrating & annoying aspect of this book is that the author will label someone a Satanist or the murderer or murderers themselves will call themselves a Satanist when they are a Devil-worshipper.
The author incorrectly labels a murderer a Satanist when they are a Devil-worshipper and labels a Devil-worshipper as a Satanist when they are the opposite of what the author labels them as or assumes about them.
Just because a person/a group of people in a cult or coven ritualistically tortures, rapes then murders their victim(s) that they sacrificed to a demon, or to Lucifer or Satan, that doesn't make them Satanists!
Their behaviour, mentality, attitude, opinion, perception & total disregard & no empathy or respect for human or animals lives or the fact they only learnt about black magick, summoning demons, to harm people on purpose & because they think it's edgy & cool makes them attention-seeking pathetic losers & pseudo-Satanists wannabes/murderers.
What the hell is a demon, Satan or Lucifer supposed to do with the mutilated, raped, tortured ritualistically sacrificed, cannibalized, exsanguinated corpse of a baby, animal, a virgin, pregnant woman, a man, or a young boy or girl?
Why would they want or need that? It's delusional, pathetic, disgusting, disturbing and unnecessary.
Just because a person, or a couple, cult or coven of people are murderers it doesn't automatically mean they are a Satanist or Occultist just because they are interested in the Occult (hidden knowledge) witchcraft & Satanism.
Satanists are not murderers, rapists, animal or child abusers, they don't tolerate Nazism (the orginal Nazi's are dead) so Neo-Nazism is not tolerated by Satanists or Norse Pagans (it's Norwegian & Germanic in it's origin)
Palo Mayombe (Orishas or Oshun are their Deities), Voodoo (The Lwa/Loa are the spirits and Deities they believe in) & Santeria (La Santisima Muerte is the main female sacred Deity) are all their own form of witchcraft, a spiritual belief & practice, but none are them are Satanic!
Metal bands such as Slayer, Metallia, AC/DC, Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne or similar bands are not Satanic.
Slayer did used Satanic imagery but that type of imagery went well with the type of metal music they created, but they don't believe in Satan, the singer of the band Tom Araya is Catholic.
Claiming anyone that is a Metalhead or a Goth that is a outsider, a outcast, a antisocial loner as a potential murderer, Satanist just because they dress in a alternative style, they have alternative spiritual beliefs, they are interested in various forms of magick, practice witchcraft, love horror films, Metal music/alternative music & they are into BDSM is a delusional, biased, inaccurate/incorrect fear mongering, accusatory & the wrong approach towards people that are different or their aesthetic is different to others.
There is nothing wrong with that.
Why are ordinary people being vilified, demonized for their interests, hobbies, when a minority of people that are psychologically damaged, disturbed are the real issue, these are the type of people to be committing horrific crimes, murders, to be obsessed with the occult/witchcraft.
They are more likely to be easily influenced, coerced, controlled, manipulated, they may already have the compulsion to be violent to other people, to be self-destructive & mutilate themselves.
They may be suffering from psychosis, visual or auditory hallucinations, or a delusional belief, opinion, perception that isn't true or even real in reality.
The except that was about Occultists practicing witchcraft, studying Occult Sciences and using psychic attack against Aleister Crowley while in the 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐧 before he took over it ot attempted to until he made some of his own Occult organizations like 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐚 .
I wish there was a film about Aleister Crowley to explain his intentions with magick and what he wanted to achieve.
It's interesting that the term Lycanthropy is a (medical & legal term) used at the time that Gilles Garnier was a werewolf in France.
He was convicted of Werewolfery and burnt at the stake.
It's nice that the author wrote about British, Scottish witch history, Essex in England is known as the "Witch County" the Witchfinder general Matthew Hopkins was born in Essex, there were the Pendle & Lancashire Witches.
I never understood why modern day witches seem to be willfully ignorant of Witch history from the (14th-18th Century) in various countries including England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales & why they act like it never or they only focus on their country of origin.
The witch-trials happened in various countries, men & women were accused of witchcraft but some of the accused never admitted or confessed to being a witch under duress due to torture, I respect their resilience, courage. The werewolf trials were just as interesting as the witch-trials.
Tituba a Voodoo Priestess from the 1600's isn't really mentioned, but she was a real witch, but she is more well-know in America.
I'll never understand why some disrespectful people claim white people supposedly don't have any culture, but England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales is Celtic, Druid, Pagan in it's origin, why would we have Stonehenge in Wiltshire if there were no Celtic, Druid or Pagans?
Why do we have places associated with witchcraft or witch's
(The Ancient Ram Inn, The Witch's Cage, The Hellfire Club Caves, Loftus Hall, Leap Castle) if we supposedly have no culture?
England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales all have their own individual mythologies, folklore, Lore, Urban Legends, Unexplained mysteries, Paranormal encounters, Cryptids, Witch History.
It's been a long time since I have read a book that pissed me off due to how inaccurate it is about Satanism & witchcraft in general.
The author has a biased opinion about witchcraft & Satanism, confirmation bias based due to their judgemental, sceptical, self-righteous, holier-than-thou, non-believer opinion, attitude, fear mongering, unjustified hatred & fear of what they don't fully understand and don't want to fully understand to willful ignorance.
Sharon Tate, her unborn baby, her friends, someone that was staying in the guest house and the LaBianca's were murdered by Charles Manson's "Family" cult to start a race war, but it seems like it's about classism, money/wealth as well especially in the Hollywood area of America.
It's not that crazy for Andrew Newell to believe that they are a werewolf, since there is a ritual in at least one Anton Szandor LaVeyan book that has a ritual to become a werewolf so it makes sense.
They were practicing black magick, he slept among the dead in a ancient tomb to absorb the spirit, essence, or energy of death so they may have been practicing Necromancy (Death Magick)
This book was interesting to read even if I didn't always agree with the biased judgemental, narrow minded opinion, attitude perception or assumptions of the author about witchcraft, Satanism, Occult related crimes and murders.

A pretty typical collection of murder cases from 1900 to 2002, mostly from Great Britain and the United States. The author died in 1999, so I'm not sure who finished the book for him. This book isn't really any different from the many others of its kind. I did notice a few inaccuracies here and there.
