TRICERATOPS is a cute and sturdy little boardbook that is going to appeal to little dinosaur lovers. One of the things that is going to appeal to little ones is the fact that the book is shaped like a little Triceratops. The front of the book is a cheerful green while the page edges are a striking orange.

Inside the artwork is cheery, but what I like is the fact that there is some educational material that is covered. Our hero, a spunky little dino says:

"If another dinosaur attacks me,
I lower my head and charge!
Watch out for my three pointy horns!"

Text like this is going to give you the chance to bring in some counting. Like, lets count the horns. And, let's count how many dinosaurs on this page... or how many trees.

So for babies I would just use this book for the cadence of the text, and to point out objects like trees and colors. For toddlers you can introduce counting and discussion how some dinosaurs live in families and have protection.

Children will also be able to play with the book as it stands up.

T. REX and TRICERATOPS are two cute books from Florence Langlois and TWIRL, the publisher.

What I like about these boardbooks is that they are not only sturdy and cute, but they stand up on their own --so they can be played with.

T. REX has a red cover with our guy on it. And inside he/she tells us something about Tyrannosauruses. Like the fact that they stand on their hind legs, and that while they can't run, they can take big steps.

For babies I would just use this book for the cadence of the text, and to point out and name objects and colors. For toddlers I would point out the features of the dinosaurs that are shown, and name the dinos they might not know --like Pterodactyl and Triceratops.

And because our little T. Rex says at the end of the book that, "I am king of the dinosaurs", you can discuss the emotions that the dinosaurs are showing. Emotions include scared/anxious, happy, and proud.

A cute series that has some life to it. Can be used with babies and toddlers.

One of the best children's books ever about the joy of reading.
