This book is about the basics of snowboarding. This book includes what to wear, how to turn, and what the majority of snowboarders do for fun. First, the book tells you what to wear, which is a snow board with bindings coat,snow pants,gloves,a helmet,goggles,and boots.Then it tells you how to use a ski lift to get up a slope.After the ski lift, you would have to get down the slope, in which it tells you how to turn.The book then tells you about freestyle parks and how to do tricks, like the easiest, the ollie. Finally, it tells you what snowboarders do for fun, like racing or style competitions.
I gave this book a 4 because, although it was interesting, I doubt that I will go snowboarding. This book caught my eye, but it didn't really amaze me as much as I would like it to. All these facts are well put out, but not so informative as I thought it would be. There were little facts about what snowboarders do for fun and tricks to do. There wasn't any information that was exciting or fun. Most it talked about was how to do parts before snowboarding and what snowboarders do, not so much about how to do it. I gave this book a 4 because I enjoyed it, but didn't 100% like it.… (mehr)

Paper Artist is a one stop instruction book for all things paper. There are 53 projects that range from jewelry, garlands, lanterns, a paper purse, and much much more! There are plenty of projects to keep everyone busy creating fun and personal items to keep or give away.

While I really like this book I feel that the target audience is more Teen to Adult rather than younger kids. The instructions are words only and not step by step pictorial instruction. This makes it a bit more difficult for younger children to follow along. In addition, the instructions rarely include patterns and often require the user to create their own from measurements. At times the instructions are very vague and only show the finished project. Based on these issues I would not recommend it to anyone under 13.

This would be a great book for a Teen library collection and would even be successful in the adult stacks. I am a bit disappointed that I can't purchase it for my Elementary library because the instructions are way above the intended audience.… (mehr)
