A different kind of love story with lots of action, magic, and romance to entice readers of contemporary supernatural tales.

This is the end but will we see Ragnarok? Molten Dusk was a good wrap up to the series but i have to say Arctic Dawn was my favorite of the three. I don't think I can do this without spoilers so:

**************possible spoilers below********************

I like Solina, I really do, and I know she's supposed to be the star of the story but Skyla and Nina really stole the show in book three even though they weren't dominant in the story. It was Solina's view of them that made them more vivid and for this I am grateful. I can see a whole story (or perhaps a novella, wink wink) of Nina and Baldur on a mini adventure or Skyla getting the Valkyries in order. Solina is still great but the way she went from angry to sad to happy so fast sometimes felt a bit bipolar. Girl I know you got a lot going on but focus on an emotion and work through it! Skyla is so vibrant but I feel like we didn't get enough of her or the friendship between her and Solina. Ok yes I know, the story was all about Solina and Thorin and they had a great story but it was almost too sweet by the end and yet...

I loved that he basically fell apart over her. I was tired of his stuck up attitude in book one and seeing him slowly melt over the last two books was nice. I don't think he really knew what to do with Solina for the entire second book. By Molten Dusk, he was ready to take that leap and let his walls come down.

Book three felt a little rushed, especially the end, but all plot points were finalized even though you could feel that there was room for more adventure in the future (I hope, wink wink)

************end possible spoilers****************

Laurel created some likable characters and an imaginative story that is easy to fall in love with. The story is twisty but not too complicated and her use of the Norse folklore was well done and with great focus on details. The research she must have put in is obvious. Molten Dusk is a fast and fun read. I'd recommend it to anyone that enjoys strong female leads and little romance.

There are three things that make The Norse Chronicles fun- sexy gods, girl power, and the cutest friendship ever. Even when the gods are bad they are sexy. ALL the women have their own power in some way (even if they're a little bat-sh*t crazy).

But let's talk about the cutest friendship ever- Solina and Skyla are so damn adorable (and remind me of my own girl friendships on so many levels)- and I don't think we get enough of this type of relationship in fiction. Often I see women sniping at each other, even if they're friends and inevitably there is some betrayal (Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!). But Solina and Skyla are solid and their love is an unbreakable thing.

Next- the story: I don't know why but I struggle with some parts of these books. I think I choose crappy times to read or it's that sometimes there is a lot of explanation/description of what is happening. THIS IS NOT A BAD THING for most people but my brain gets tired of how Solina explains every move she sees and everything thing that happens.

Still yet, I love the characters and the plot. I love the way Solina has come into her own. I also love the relationships that are building. These reasons are without a doubt reason enough to give Arctic Dawn 5 stars.
