"Breath Of Deceit" was a good solid read; it was not quite what I was expecting but that was not altogether a bad thing.
Let me explain; I was expecting more of a traditional mafia romance and what I actually got was more the start of a mafia suspense with romantic elements throughout.
"Breath Of Deceit" seems to set a lot of the groundwork for the future series and what we get here is great stuff.
This is a suspenseful interesting start to what I imagine is going to be a very interesting new series.
I am really looking forward to seeing where this is ultimately heading.
With really inventive characters and fantastic storytelling its not difficult to fully immerse yourself in this colourful new world.
This was action packed and addictive reading right from the start.
Going into this and from the blurb, I was expecting for Cian and Lila to take centre stage.
Buts it's actually the youngest brother Connor and his ex-girlfriend Jess who seem to be the more dominant couple here.
We do get some insight into Cian and Lila but I am expecting so much more from them in the next instalment in this series.
Here their story seems to be just getting started.
"Breath Of Deceit" Is told from multiple POV usually not my bag but here it did seem to work.
I also should mention if your looking for heat factor this is not that graphic.
This was more story based and though we do get a couple mildly sexy scenes "Breath Of Deceit" I actually found very tame to what I'm used to more of a slow burn.
Again not a bag thing just different.
Ultimately this was a good read; managing to hook and keep my attention throughout.
A great start to a new series that I am happy to recommend.

This will be my first written review on GoodReads and if you had told me I'd give a free Amazon Kindle book 5 stars, I probably would have laughed at you, but this really was a great book. One that really called out to me to review and share. I don't read rock star books, I certainly don't read a ton of books with a lot of sexual scenes, but when a good one comes around, I can't walk away.

A Lush Betrayal centers around Mel, a photojournalism grad, and Joss, a rockstar. As well as the other major players in the story, Mel's sister Tammy, Tammy's fiance and Joss's bandmate Walsh, and the rest of the touring band and their crew. Betrayal, guilt, and a lot of emotion build up to the sharing of mistakes and the intense explosion that followed.

The book is written from Mel and Joss's POV, alternating chapters. Selena Laurence did an excellent job hooking you into Mel's background and making you so attached to Joss with his brooding and angst. The book is less about rock star life and more about the glue that holds a band together. Selena takes you on a tour bus ride of music, fear, sadness, loss, and finally closure. The characters are easy to relate to and understand and the story isn't so far fetched that you can't believe it.

I sat down and read this in one sitting, completely ignoring the rest of my plans for the evening. I highly recommend, as it was so much more than I was expecting.I particularly loved that Selena gave us closure to the chapter that is Mel and Joss, but leaves an open ending for Tammy and Walsh. Book two in the Lush series is already on my to-read shelf and I can't wait to see the story continue to develop.… (mehr)

Vaughn's Pride reads like a bad love song. Broken hearts, shattered dreams and foolish pride are abundant. It's the common sense that's lacking. John Mayer said it best: " When dreaming with a broken heart, waking up proves the hardest part." T.J. and Vaughn lived those words. Love brought them together, but pride is keeping them apart. Can love survive grief, fate, pride and distance? With nostalgia, heart and faith, Ms. Laurence shows the power of love and the reason for hope. Vaughn's Pride, may be my first Selena Laurence novel but definitely not my last.… (mehr)
