Author Brink Lindsey discusses his book, The Age of Abundance: How Prosperity Transformed America's Politics and Culture, at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
In The Age of Abundance, Lindsey offers a new interpretation of the latter half of the 20th century. Lindsey says after the economy began to rapidly grow following World War II, new political interests emerged to rival economics for most Americans. "One side attacked capitalism while rejoicing in its fruits; the other side celebrated capitalism while denouncing its fruits as poisonous," Lindsey writes.
Lindsey, vice president for research at the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C., will make the case that a new—decidedly more libertarian—political center has emerged in America.
