Sins of the Fathers kept me glued to my seat, and I was afraid to read more, but I could not stop! FOR THOSE SENSITIVE WITH RAPE SHOULD NOT READ THIS. Five generations had to suffer before the curse could be broken, and I never wanted to face ANY of THE BRUTAL WAYS! I felt sorry for the three girls who were attacked and murdered and I was glad that vengeance was delivered!

I like the cover, but it was the title, Conversations With Dead Serial Killers, that reeled me in. I found the blend of fact and fiction interesting. I have read my share of nonfiction books about serial killers and lots of fictional ones, so to see an author bring them together in the same story had me curious how he would handle it.

Do you believe in psychics? Derek Turner proclaims to be a psychic, manipulates people into handing over money. His life changes when Sam comes into it. She will not leave him alone, dogging his every step, wanting him to do the right thing.

The more I see Sam, the more I like her.

Clive, his brother, helps with the readings. But, he has his own agenda.

The twists are not exposed until the end, and that is always a good thing. I didn’t see the total picture. Whether Derek knew or wanted things to go down the way they did, I don’t know. I think he just wanted to make money and didn’t care too much about the cost.

I think all too often people do glamorize serial killers. I find them fascinating, but ‘regular’ people are just as interesting. I enjoy delving into people’s minds, wanting to know the why of things.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Conversations With Dead Serial Killers by Ashley Lister.

nearthed starts with a bang. From a Magnum. What follows is a fast-paced and brutal tale of cosmic horror with lots of action, unexpected twists, and strong characters.

I love how Lister does not shy away from strong female characters and how three-dimensional his lead characters are. I enjoyed the unpredictability of Unearthed and how the pace left me mentally exhausted. I really dig (pun intended) the classic premise brought forward and modernized and how Lister tweaked it into originality.

Unearthed is a fun read from a fantastic storyteller. It’s a must-read for fans of cosmic horror but has broad enough appeal for any fan of supernatural horror. I look forward to reading the next book in Lister’s Dark Tales from Innsmouth series.

I read Ashley Lister’s Fearless: a dark tale from Innsmouth in one sitting. Oh. My. Gosh. I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed such amazing dialogue in a story. It’s clever and dark and had me laughing and exclaiming out loud, much to my husband’s dismay. The characters and their interactions are absolutely brilliant.

Also brilliant is Lister’s shameless and wicked combining of subgenres in this novella. There is the paranormal, the expected ghost story, but also elements of a medical horror thriller, psychological horror, and some irreverent dark humor. This is a solidly fun read! But perhaps a small disclaimer: while this is not extreme horror, some of the subject matter might not be for those readers who are easily triggered. Lister throws a dash of real life horror in the mix as a catalyst, and it is presented with real life perspectives. One can’t bring the chip-on-one’s-shoulder to this read or one will miss the purposeful depth brought by that addition.

This is a fast-paced and enjoyable story, and I cannot recommend it enough. I look forward to reading the other stories in Lister’s Tales from Innsmouth series. I’m hooked.
