I started the Paper Doll completely unsure, perhaps I was expecting a tale about a young girl fixating on something she has made, metaphors like the rain destroying temporary dreams.
I found a fleeting insight into a writers mind, an intimate understanding of “place” and “home” which explains much more about Tricia Lomax’s writing and so serves as an excellent aside to her other works.
The Paper Doll is a highly original work, for which I have no comparison.
Buy it, have no expectations and prepare to be surprised!
