For me, this was the kind of book you yearn for, that one you will stay up all night to finish, the one you will sacrifice dinner to get through. One more chapter. Just one more chapter. This is well crafted, well paced, with all the right teasers to keep you going. Perfection.

Fun story to read. Humorous, light hearted and not too complicated. I just enjoyed it. Hope there is another in the works.....

It was much like the road trip it is. In real life, I have had road trips that had the same mix. I didn’t get in deep with the characters which might play a part in my ambivalence. I also liked the narrator but not for this book. I wish they had used someone who had a better handle on an American accent. There were moments where I laughed out loud and those were what pushed me to round up instead of down. If you enjoy the Hollywood of the 50’s and 60’s than you should pick this book. I think it also would be fine for book club reading. There is plenty to discuss. Might be a better read than a listen although some of the scenes that had me laughing were made funnier by the narrator. This is definitely a try it and see recommendation for me. I would also suggest that if you don’t enjoy one format, give the other one a try before giving up.… (mehr)

There is nothing heavy about this read, nothing will jump out and gob smack the reader, no overt sexual dialogue, appropriately placed, minimal swearing, and decent, real-to-life characters.
In my opinion, the worst part of the book is that its author passed away before she saw how well-received it was; if only Ms. Lotter could have penned more.
This, reading friends, is a fun, worthy read - especially if you are over forty ;)… (mehr)
