Black and white illustrations and rhyming words opposite for each two-page spread for each number from one to ten. At the end is a page-long note "For Parents" suggesting how the "this book can help your child think about numbers." Since I happen to be reading a book about how early people may have grouped numbers before figuring out how to count up to large numbers, the mention of ways to group small numbers was of interest. The author even suggests covering some of the animals on a page to teach subtraction. The final page suggests some of the many ways numbers appear in our lives and asks us to pay attention to them.… (mehr)
